High School Musical 2 songs were equally memorable and raked in more millions for Disney producers as both kids and their parents patronized both the movie and the music album.

SMASH HIT IN THE UNITED STATES

When the sequel debuted in August of 2007, more than 17 million viewers in the United States alone were glued to Disney Channel and Family Channel to watch. It was also a record-breaking feat as it became the highest rating cable broadcast in Asia. In the Philippines alone, almost 9 million viewers watched Studio23 and Channel 2 (both owned by ABS-CBN.)

Attaining teen idol status, the cast’s singing talents were not only confined to singing the first movie’s songs and the High School Musical 2 songs as some of them have also launched their own solo music albums. These are Vanessa Hudgens, Corbin Bleu and Ashley Tishdale.

MORE MILLIONS FOR DISNEY

It did not come as a surprise then when the first High School Musical soundtrack became the highest-selling album of 2006. High School Musical 2 songs are not far behind while we do not have official data yet on its record sales performance. High School Musical concert tour, DVDs, video games featuring High School Musical 2 songs and songs of the first movie, series of books and lately, High School Musical on Ice tour are raking millions of dollars. Not bad for a movie about tweenies experiencing the pains and travails of growing up, keeping up and standing for friends.

Watching both movies, you would readily see the reason why they became smash hits. The story line is simple and really touches on the lives of students as personified by Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay, Chad, Taylor, and several others. In one way or the other, a kid could always find a character in both movies from whom they could identify with. What’s more, the characters are normal kids who show some positive values and strength of character which the parents would really love to set as good role models.

Of course, the songs of the first movie and High School Musical 2 songs also helped in making the movie enormously popular. If you are a parent and, despite the positive values, you are having enough of these movies being played over and over again, wait till the happy executives of Disney release High School Musical 3. Talk has it that they are launching this third movie within this year.
