High School Musical Soundtrack: The Start of Something New
Indeed, the movie High School Musical, soundtrack, and other merchandising blitz definitely started something new for the some of the cast. They even have launched their own solo albums after the success of the first High School Musical movie.
The High School Musical soundtrack is a phenomenal success. Released in the United States on the first month of 2006, it debuted at the 133rd slot on the Billboard 200. On its first week alone, the High School Musical soundtrack sold 7,469 copies. Since then, it has continually climbed up the charts and on its third week, as published on Billboard 200’s February 11, 2006 issue, High School Musical soundtrack reached number ten. The soundtrack reached number one twice on the same chart, the first one was March 1, 2006 and another one on March 22, 2006. Certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), the High School Musical soundtrack shipped 3.8 million copies by December of 2006 and out of this number, sold more than 3 million 4 months before that.
What’s so special about this soundtrack? Different folks have different reasons. However, a lot have said they started to appreciate the movie immediately after Troy and Gabriella sang “The Start of Something New”. Here’s the lyrics:
| The Start of Something New |
| [Troy:] Living in my own world Didn't understand That anything can happen When you take a chance [Gabriella:] [Troy:] [Gabriella:] [Troy:] [Gabriella:] [Both:] [Gabriella:] [Both:] [Gabriella:] [Both:] [Gabriella:] [Troy:] [Both:] [Troy:] [Both:] [Troy:] [Gabriella:] [Troy:] [Gabriella:] [Troy:] [Both:] [Gabriella:] [Both:] [Gabriella:] [Troy:] [Both:] It the start of something new And now looking in your eyes [Troy:] [Gabriella:] [Both:] [Troy:] [Both:] [Troy:] [Gabriella:] [Troy:] [Both:] |
This is definitely the start of something new for these two lovable artists. Since then, they have been catapulted to fame. Thanks to High School Musical soundtrack that is widely distributed all throughout the world. You see, people could get tired of watching the same movie over and over again, but they can listen to its soundtrack endlessly (besides, they cannot watch a movie anytime and as easily as they can listen to its soundtrack.)
The High School Musical soundtrack definitely is this generation’s soundtrack as “Grease” and “Saturday Night Fever” was the soundtrack a generation ago.
