Synopsis of The High School Musical The Movie

Troy, (Zac Efron) the popular captain of East High’s basketball team finds himself unwillingly thrown on-stage to sing a karaoke number with a stranger, Gabriella, (played by Vanessa Anne Hudgens) in Disney Channel’s High School Musical the movie. Both, who haven’t sang in public before, were genuinely surprised with their new-found talent and became good friends. However, they parted ways not knowing if they will see each other again.

High School Musical the movie revolves around students coming back to school from a break. It was to Zac’s pleasant surprise to discover that Gabriella is a transferee to his school. They became close friends especially when both decided to audition for a posted high school musical. The movie then progressed to several twists and turns as one overly competitive student, Sharpay, concocts plan after plan to make them fail the audition. To make things worse, Chad and the other team mates of Troy were aghast with the discovery and decide to do everything they can to stop Troy’s plan.

Things get hotter in High School Musical the movie on the first auditions when Sharpay and her sidekick brother Ryan got the part, or so they thought. After being denied the audition because they were not prompt enough to answer the call, Troy and Gabriella sang the pianist/composer’s new piece. It so happened that the drama teacher was still there and she heard their great singing. She changes her mind and tell Troy and Gabriella that they got call backs. Sharpay and Ryan, who were practically in almost all the school’s shows, were so upset.

Sharpay and Ryan were not the only ones upset with this development. Both the friends of Troy (Chad and the rest of the basketball team) and Gabriella (the scholarly geeks) are also concerned that their friend’s sudden interest in high school musicals. The movie did a good twist when both camps planned a scheme to make the two main characters feel betrayed by the other.

These well-meaning friends from both camps however were also affected when they see their friends badly affected by their falling out of friendship. They tried to correct what they did by confessing to Troy and Gabriella, and gave them their support instead. It was too late however because Sharpay have maneuvered the schedule of the call back to conflict with the basketball championship and the academic contest where Troy and Gabriella are respectively involved.

This is the part in High School Musical the movie where the spirit of teamwork and friendship work. With some electronic wizardry, they managed to rigged the schools electrical systems and the electronic scoreboard to short circuit at a specified time. This made the officials call for a prolonged time-out. Meanwhile, in Gabriella’s academic contest, they also rigged some chemistry sets to blow at a specified time to disrupt the contest.

Both were able to go to the call back and win the part. One of High School Musical the movie’s most unforgettable part is the ending where everyone went on a song and dance number with the now-famous “We’re all in this together.”
